SYNC BRIEFS - How It Works
Now that you've pitched to our panel of music supervisors, it's time to start diving into sync briefs!
Some productions have definitely halted or at the very least slowed down, but the music licensing industry is still moving along and preparing for when all this craziness will be over and it'll be back to business as usual.
Here's how it will work...
We get regular briefs from our connections in the sync world. We've spent years building these relationships and are on their go to list for sync opportunities so we want to pass these on to our students. Since these briefs are typically not released to the general public, there's less competition in the submission department but we still need to act fast to make sure we don't lose out.
Here are some important things to know...
1) We send out a bi-weekly email with a list of current briefs and ask that you send us your submissions ASAP. The sooner we get the music, the sooner we can submit it before the opportunity passes. We sometimes get urgent requests and will pass those along as soon as we get them.
2) These are "private" briefs sent to us so we need to keep the names of the projects & music supervisors private and send music on your behalf.
3) Only send MP3s via downloadable link - no email attachments.
4) Make sure all your metadata is in place just as if you were pitching directly to a music supervisor.
5) If there are any co-writers, publishers, or master owners other than yourself, please confirm that they approve of the terms as all submissions must be pre-cleared.
6) Try and keep your submissions to only 1-2 songs per brief unless you feel strongly that you have more options that could work.
7) If a music supervisor likes your song(s) and wants to license it for a project, that’s when the metadata is key as we are only the messenger between you & the supe. They will reach out to you directly (or we will pass on their info to you), and it will then be up to you to finalize the deal.
8) Send your music submissions to me (Danielle) at: [email protected]
9) We vet all the submissions before we pass them on to the music supervisors so we'll only pitch songs we feel best suit each brief.
Let me know if you have any questions about how this all works.
